Deployment of S3 storage

An object store allows to host large number of files. AWS S3 was the first hosted solution on the market, when it came to serve so called "buckets". Meanwhile a number of other service providers offer object stores, and usually you pay a fee for the size of your total data and egress, which is the outgoing traffic.

Focus on data sovereignty

Data should remain under our own control.  In 2023, we were once again able to realize this ambition in two major projects. A messenger for schools and a European media portal were developed using open source frameworks and open standards and put into operation on an autonomous technical infrastructure.

fairmeeting auf neuer Infrastruktur

Wir haben uns mit fairmeeting nochmal heftig ins Zeug gelegt. Unseren beliebten Videokonferenzdienst auf Basis Jitsi hatten wir während der Pandemie bereits dreimal umgebaut. Nun wurde dieser in unseren Kubernetes Cluster mit einer noch leistungsfähigeren Hardware migriert.

fairkom is running a large gitlab instance hosting more than 1000 projects and 3000 users. Starting in spring 2023 we were faced with registrations from users, that created issues with film lists or articles on how to use AI for writing scientific articles.
